I like metal.

Metal is a "coat of many colors," so to speak. So to clear the cloudiness of the thing, I've defined(or tried my hardest to define) a few of the genres. I really don't know shit about Metal when you compare me to most, so, please feel free to correct me.

Progressive Metal -
Progressive Metal is one of the least understood forms out music out there, and my personal favorite when it comes to metal. It can be broken down into like a million subgenres, that's why the bands in this genre are so diverse. Bands like Green Carnation and Dream Theater are considered Progressive. A lot of instrumental peices that Opeth has done are be progressive-sounding, I think that's what got me hooked on Opeth in the first place.

Black Metal -
Bands like Satyricon , Cradle of Filth , and Dimmu Borgir are considered black metal. Many metal legends flourished under the influence of this genre during (and after) the black metal explosion in the 1980's. Most of them were underground, And contrary to popular belief, Metallica did not give birth to Black Metal. Metallica didn't even start to get popular until about 1984; Metallica is responsible for Thrash and Speed Metal. Venom released thier album "Black Metal" in 1982, which influenced about a dozen underground Black Metal bands in the early 1980s. These eventually branched into the many different kinds of metal we hear today.

Thrash/Speed Metal -
Metallica was the first band to put out an album with sheer thrash sound; Although Judas Preist and Black Sabbath had a thrash feel to a few of thier riffs before Metallica's balls dropped (matured, I mean.) but, Metallica has been one of the most influential so-called "Thrash Bands" in this genre. If you want to hear a particularly hard thrash album, go check out Dark Angel's album "Darkness Descends." It's one of the hardest, fastest, thrashiest Thrash Metal albums ever.

Death Metal -
Death Metal has been around for about twenty years now. Slayer influenced bands like Deicide and Celtic Frost with thier first album "Show no Mercy" in 1983, and "Hell Awaits" two years later. Death Metal, as far as how it sounds, doesn't differ greatly from the other genres of metal out there.

Grindcore -
Hardcore Punk + Death Metal = Anal Cunt, Napalm Death, Godflesh, etc.

Too ... tired ... to list ... anymore.

Before I fall asleep on the floor, I seriously recommend Arcturus.
I bought The Sham Mirrors a while back, I've been hooked on them ever since.

I got a webcam, I'm still learning how to use it.

I guess I'll post a couple, just so that you can laugh at me.

Before I learned how to use my camera.

After I learned how to use my camera.

So that's that.

An official entry.

I got too lazy to pay the bill for my website, so now I've got this.

This is a stereotypical livejournal. You've got your fixed background, micro times new roman, mini-avatar, and customized comment links (Just to show you how "me" this journal is.) Hell, I even do lj-cuts. In another couple of entries, I'll make this a friends only journal, with an un-witty picture of me being emo that'll say "Friends only, bitches." Yeah, just like that.

I can't believe that I don't have anything better to do.

So, I was browsing through a few livejournals and I read through them, and I found that every person has at least one entry about a new haircut. I guess as soon as you get a haircut, you're suposed to get online and talk about it. And all the comments for that entry consist of "It looks good, I need a new haircut too." "My roots are growing out, I think I should dye mine." "Blah, blah, blah." "My hair, my hair, woe is me."

Anyhow.

I was thinking about seeing Between the Buried and Me on the 28th, (at the boardwalk, Fear Before the March of Flames will be there also.) but, Giant Squid is playing in San Francisco on the 27th, and that's the day after I get back from my aunt's house. It's going to be quite hectic, but at least I'll be able to say that I was a fun-filled, action-packed Thanksgiving break.
